A new edition with photos and videos

Here I am again, back with the report from another edition of Pitti Immagine Uomo — and this one I’ve nicknamed “Summer’s Heat,” because honestly, it might be one of the hottest one I’ve ever shot. Working in Florence in the summer is no joke, and this year it really pushed things to a new level: temperatures hit around +40ºC (104ºF), and there I was, fully suited up like everyone else at the event, camera in hand, trying not to melt.

This edition is also a bit of a milestone for me. For the first time, I documented it not just through photos but through video too. I brought along both the Nikon Z8 and the Nikon ZR cinema camera — a brand new camera made after Nikon aquisition of RED — and honestly, having both in my bag felt like getting the best of both worlds. High-resolution stills on one side, gorgeous raw video footage on the other, all ready to be polished up later in DaVinci Resolve.

Here’s the gallery of looks and faces that caught my eye during my days at the fair. I’ll be honest, the heat made things trickier this time around — my shooting window was tighter than usual since I also had other clients to cover (you’ll see those galleries further down), and once lunchtime hit, the light and heat combined made it almost impossible to proceed further on. But despite all that, here are the looks and moments I managed to capture.

Working with Common Suits

One of the real highlights of this edition, for me, was getting to work with Common Suits. I’ve admired their craftsmanship for a while — the attention to detail in their bespoke sartorial suits is something else. We spent two mornings together, Tuesday and Wednesday, starting out in the streets of Florence before moving into the fair itself. It was such a pleasure working with and directing Marco, Franco and Jarvin — and a big thank you to Chanel for pulling all the coordination together!

Hockerty Summer Lookbook

My ongoing collaboration with Hockerty, which kicked off back at Pitti Uomo 100, brought me back for another lookbook shoot during this edition. This time around, we shot everything inside the fair and then moved to the event they hosted at Palazzo Castri in Florence. Honestly, it was one of the most fun events I’ve been to in years — held over lunch, with amazing food, gelato, and even a guided ceramic painting session tying into this year’s theme, “The Color Edit.” Then, as the event wound down, things took an unexpected turn: with the heat becoming unbearable, several guests decided to jump — fully dressed — straight into the swimming pool.
Definitely a moment I won’t forget!

Other events of the week: Starting with the St. Regis Party

Like I mentioned in my last recap, Pitti Uomo now kicks off with a bang — the Monday night party at the St. Regis hotel, an event I’ve had the pleasure of covering for many editions now. The energy in that room is something else: great vibes all around, and the St. Regis Orchestra playing live music that never fails to set the mood. It’s the perfect way to kick off the week.

Another amazing night at Tenuta d’Arbia

Just like last edition, NoChaser hosted their event this year at Tenuta d’Arbia, right in the heart of the Tuscan countryside. The weather and light were absolutely perfect for capturing both the guests and that breathtaking landscape. I was lucky enough to stay the night there, which meant I got to wake up early and wander around in that beautiful morning light — such a rare and special experience.

Shooting for Bespoke Athens

Vassilis and his team at Bespoke Athens had been planning this shoot with me for quite a while, and the idea was to feature two amazing Alfa Romeo Spider cars they’d brought all the way from Greece. But then, as these things go, one of the cars decided to break down on us. Instead of seeing it as a setback, we turned it into an opportunity — shooting part of the session right inside the mechanic’s workshop while the car got fixed. That moment was actually inspired by an iconic 1979 shot by Herb Ritts featuring Richard Gere in a strikingly similar situation. We wrapped up the rest of the session with the other car, cruising around the gorgeous hills surrounding Florence.
