Pitti Immagine Uomo 109 Winter Edition

There’s something special about the winter edition of Pitti Uomo — landing right at the start of the year, it always feels like the perfect fresh start. We’re all still buzzing from the holidays, a little more open to new ideas, and honestly still slightly in party mode! This edition turned out to be the biggest one yet: I came back with over 250 photos to share with you, so grab a coffee, get comfortable, and let’s dive into everything that happened at Pitti Immagine Uomo 109.

Monday, the day 0

I like calling Monday “Day 0” — technically it’s a day before the fair officially kicks off on Tuesday, but as I mentioned in past editions, it’s honestly one of my favourite days of the whole week. It’s when I get to catch up with old friends and clients before the whirlwind of the fair really begins, and there’s a lot more time to actually talk and connect. This time, Monday started with the St. Regis hotel party, one of my go-to events every single edition. There’s a live band that always gets the room going, the energy is fantastic, and everyone’s clearly just happy to be back in Florence. It’s the perfect warm-up to the days ahead.

Walking around the fair at Fortezza da Basso is always where you catch the best looks — that’s just how it goes at Pitti. But I’ve noticed my own approach has really shifted over the years. In the early editions I used to stop people, ask them to pose, direct the shot a bit more. These days I try to keep things as street style as possible, catching people as they are, mid-conversation or mid-stride. That said, every now and then you make a real connection with someone, and those are the shots where they look straight into the camera — and honestly, those are some of my favourites.

Hockerty winter lookbook at Pitti Immagine Uomo 109

Just like the last few editions, I was back behind the camera for Hockerty’s winter lookbook — you can check out the previous shoots here if you missed them. This time we mixed things up a little: we shot during the day at the fair, then moved things to the streets around Santa Croce once the sun went down, right before heading into the Hockerty party. And what a party it was — the Swingit band was playing live, and we ended up having way too much fun!

Shooting for Sartorial 55

Farid and Soraia from Sartorial 55 are people I’ve known for years now — we’ve basically “grown up” together at Pitti Uomo, running into each other edition after edition. This time around we finally carved out proper time for a shoot together, wandering through the streets of Florence and up onto the terrace of the Robiglio Hotel, right in the heart of the city. It’s always a pleasure working with people who feel more like friends than clients.

Evening events during the week

If there’s one thing about Pitti week, it’s that the evenings are just as packed as the days — sometimes more! Honestly, it’s impossible to make it to every single invite, but here’s a rundown of what I managed to catch this time: the Sebiro Sanpo presentation, straight from Japan, the launch of Fabio Attanario’s book “Scent of Tailoring,” the always-lively Plaza Uomo party, and a great evening out on Via del Parione, co-hosted by J. Shooting for Style by Sarai

My collaboration with Style by Sarai keeps going from many seasons, and this year I was behind the lens for Jason Sarai across all four days in Florence — starting with the Tuxedo party at the St. Regis and moving through the fair at Fortezza da Basso and the streets of the city. One of the highlights this time was to return visiting the Profumoir workshop in the San Niccolò neighbourhood.

If you’re ever in Florence, I really recommend exploring that area: it’s one of the least touristy corners of the city, and you’ll stumble on gems like Clet’s shop and the Stefano Bemer shoe workshop along the way.
