This fashionable portrait shoot in the night lights of Florence has been quite challenging. On the roof terrace facing Florence’s Duomo, I didn’t have much light. I didn’t want to use a flashlight to ruin the shot’s atmosphere. The only light available was the backlight from the surrounding buildings. In this situation, I used an ISO range of 5000 to 12800, mainly with the Fujifilm X-T2 and X-Pro2, using the 56mm f/1.2 lens.
The Fujifilm X-Trans sensor really surprised me with the ISO management. All these pictures also had just a small noise reduction pass to smooth the tones. The 56mm f/1.2 lens is stellar in these low-light conditions — the wide aperture allows for proper exposure, keeping the shutter speed high enough to avoid camera shake or subject movement.
