This Privacy Policy explains how Alessandro Michelazzi (“we”, “us”, “our”) collects, uses and protects your personal data when you visit alessandromichelazzi.com (the “Site”), in accordance with the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and Italian data protection law.

2. What personal data we collect and why

Contact form

When you use the contact form on this Site, we collect the name, email address, subject and message you provide. This is sent directly by email to our own inbox (info@alessandromichelazzi.com) so we can reply to you; it is not stored in the Site’s database. Legal basis: your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR) and, where relevant, to take steps at your request before entering into a contract with you (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR).

Blog comments

If you leave a comment on a blog post, we collect the name, email address and (optionally) website URL you provide, the content of your comment, and your IP address and browser “user agent” string, to help detect spam. If you tick “Save my name, email, and website in this browser for the next time I comment”, a cookie is saved on your device purely for your convenience — it expires after one year. Comments and their metadata are retained so that we can recognise follow-up comments, unless you ask us to remove them. Legal basis: your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR).

Cookies

We use a small number of cookies, described in detail in our Cookie Policy. In summary:

  • amcc_consent — a first-party cookie that remembers whether you accepted or declined non-essential cookies (365 days). This cookie is strictly necessary to run the consent banner itself, so it does not require your consent.
  • Google Analytics cookies — set only if you click “Accept” on our cookie banner (see below).
  • Amazon cookies — not set by us. If you click an Amazon affiliate link on this Site (see “Amazon Associates Programme” below), Amazon.com sets its own cookies once you land on their site.

Google Analytics

We use Google Analytics (GA4, measurement ID G-0J3CDN335B) to understand how visitors use this Site — pages visited, time on site, device/browser type, and approximate location derived from your IP address — so we can improve our content. We have IP anonymisation enabled.

Google Analytics only runs if you consent. It loads and sets cookies only after you click “Accept” on our cookie banner. If you decline, or make no choice, Google Analytics is never loaded and no analytics cookies are set on your device.

Data collected by Google Analytics is processed by Google Ireland Limited and/or Google LLC, and may be transferred to the United States. Google provides safeguards for such transfers, including Standard Contractual Clauses and, where applicable, participation in the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework (you can verify Google’s current certification status at dataprivacyframework.gov).

Amazon Associates Programme

As an Amazon Associate, we earn from qualifying purchases. Some pages on this Site — mainly blog posts about photography and video equipment — contain affiliate links to Amazon.com under the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, tagged with our tracking ID (pixsqucorword-21). If you click one of these links and go on to make a qualifying purchase on Amazon, we may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you.

Clicking an affiliate link takes you away from this Site to Amazon.com, where Amazon sets its own cookies — for example, to record that your visit came from our link and to attribute any resulting purchase to us — and processes your data under its own privacy notice. We do not receive, collect or store any personal information about you through this process; we only see aggregate reporting from Amazon (for example, that a sale occurred), never who made it.

Legal basis: our own processing is limited to displaying the affiliate link and earning a commission, based on our legitimate interest in monetising editorial content (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). Any processing that happens once you are on Amazon’s site is governed by Amazon’s own Privacy Notice.

Server logs

Like most websites, our hosting provider automatically records basic technical information for every visit (IP address, browser type, referring page, date/time) in server log files, for security, troubleshooting, and to keep the Site running reliably. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in the security and proper functioning of the Site (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).

Images and media

Photos and videos published on this Site showcase our own photography and videography work. If you send us images (for example, via email or the contact form), we handle them with the same care as other personal correspondence and use them only for the purpose you shared them for, unless otherwise agreed (for instance, under a model release for a shoot).

What we do not do

We do not sell your personal data. Aside from our Amazon Associates affiliate links (see above), we do not run advertising trackers or social media pixels. We do not use your data for automated decision-making or profiling that produces legal effects concerning you.

3. Who we share data with

  • Our email provider, to receive contact form messages.
  • Google LLC / Google Ireland Limited, for Google Analytics — only if you consent to cookies.
  • Amazon.com, Inc. and its affiliates, through the Amazon Associates Programme — only if you choose to click an affiliate link, and governed by Amazon’s own Privacy Notice.
  • Our hosting provider, which stores the Site’s files and database, including comments you post.

We do not sell or rent your data to third parties for their own marketing purposes.

4. How long we keep your data

  • Contact form messages: kept in our email inbox for as long as reasonably necessary to handle your enquiry and any related correspondence, generally no longer than 24 months, unless a longer period is required to establish, exercise or defend legal claims.
  • Comments: kept as part of the public blog unless you ask us to remove them.
  • Google Analytics data: retained according to our GA4 configuration, after which it is automatically deleted by Google.
  • Amazon Associates data: we do not retain any personal data from this programme — Amazon retains whatever it collects on its own site under its own policy.
  • Cookie consent cookie: 365 days, after which we will ask again.

5. Your rights under the GDPR

Under Articles 15–22 of the GDPR, you have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you;
  • Request correction of inaccurate data;
  • Request erasure of your data (“right to be forgotten”);
  • Request restriction of how we use your data;
  • Object to processing based on our legitimate interest;
  • Request a portable copy of the data you provided us;
  • Withdraw your consent at any time (for example, via the cookie banner, or by asking us to remove a comment), without affecting the lawfulness of processing carried out before you withdrew it.

You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Italian Data Protection Authority (Garante per la protezione dei dati personali), Piazza Venezia 11, 00187 Rome, Italy — garanteprivacy.it — or with the supervisory authority of your own EU country of residence.

6. Children’s privacy

This Site is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 16.

7. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time, for example to reflect new features or legal requirements. The “Last updated” date at the top of this page shows when it was last revised. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
